About Us

Verify the Vote Indiana is based in Bloomington, Indiana though we are looking forward to working with others throughout the state.

We are a non-profit, non-partisan organization working to promote transparent, fair, observable, and audited elections. Our mission is to make sure that each vote cast by an eligible Indiana voter will be recorded, counted, and reported accurately.

Our long-term goal will be to work with legislators in the Indiana House and Senate to pass laws mandating voter-verified paper ballots, automatic random audits, and other safeguards as recommended by computer information security specialists. Our short-term goals will focus on educating the public about voting machine vulnerabilities and doing what we can to secure the 2006 General Election.

We endorse the VoteTrustUSA Statement of Principles:

• We advocate a more widespread understanding of concerns about the accuracy, security, and reliability of all electronic voting systems.
• We oppose the use of voting systems that do not provide an individual, permanent, voter verified paper record of each vote suitable for a meaningful hand-counted audit or recount.
• We advocate significant routine manual audits of voter-verified paper records of the ballots to check the operation of the electronic equipment.
• We advocate accurate and more complete reporting of election data.
• We advocate improved testing and certification procedures for voting equipment.
• We support improved procedures for state and local election administration and poll worker training.
• We support the development and employment of voting systems that provide all voters both independent access to vote casting and confidence in the accuracy of vote counting.
• We oppose the involvement of voting machine vendors in the administration of elections, and we oppose any form of secrecy in the process of vote counting.
• We advocate improved Federal and State standards for election processes and voting systems.
